The National Centre of Dance in Bucharest (CNDB) and East European Performing Arts Platform/EEPAP (Poland) have the pleasure of inviting you on Friday, November 4th 2016, 11.00 a.m., at the official press conference of the pilot edition of the Regional Choreography Biennale (December 1st-6th), the first event ever dedicated to contemporary dance in Central and Eastern Europe.

The press conference will be held at the Stere Popescu Hall in Mărăşeşti Boulevard 80-82. Vava Ştefănescu (CNDB’s manager), Iulia Popovici, Marta Keil and Goran Injac (the Biennale’s curators) will all be attending. Also, among our guests there will be artists, critics and managers from partner countries: Marta Ladjanska (Hungary), Mira Todorova and Atanas Maev (Bulgaria), Ewan McLaren (The Czech Republic), Dragana Alfirević, Ivana Vaseva and Biljana Tanurovska-Kjulavkovski (EEPAP).

They will discuss the landmark initiative of the First Regional Choreographic Biennale, the present status of contemporary dance in Central and Eastern Europe and the challenges that regional managers, curators and artists have to face in their quest of asserting contemporary dance as a true form of art. Also, they will be discussing about the Biennale’s future editions, scheduled for 2017 and 2019.

“The 2016 Regional Choreographic Biennale is a pilot edition, more of a meeting between the public, on the one hand, and the artists and their choreographic styles, on the other. New and familiar people will be attending at the same time, from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Hungary and, evidently, Romania. It will also facilitate an encounter of the local scene with Eastern-European producers and artists, of theoreticians of choreography with performers,” as Iulia Popovici explained in an editorial about this pilot edition’s objectives.
