While We Were Holding It Together creates images in becoming, always changing, depending on who is looking. Is it a rock band on tour? A picnic in the forest? A hotel room in Bangkok? We look, imagine and reinvent while searching for what is hidden and for what we want to see.

“Ivana Müller makes investigative and uncompromising theatre, scrutinizing many concepts and ideas that are usually taken for granted. In While We Were Holding It Together, a tribute to the power of the imagination, she subjects notions such as body, mind and the relationship between the two to a closer inspection. This results in a poetic, humoristic and philosophical production that draws the audience into Müller’s personal crystal clear logic.” Review by Fleur Bokhoven, 16 April 2007

Ivana Müller
(Zagreb/Paris/Amsterdam) studied literature in Zagreb, dance and choreography in Amsterdam and fine arts in Berlin. Ivana Müller is living and working in Amsterdam and Paris.
She is a performance artist/choreographer/director. In her artistic work she develops defined performative concepts that use twists in perception or logic as a starting point, creating pieces that are poetic and scientific, philosophical and humorous, intimate and political at the same time. In her recent work she explores notions of self-invention and story-telling, often working on the borders between fiction and reality. Most of her work is made for theatres, although she also writes texts and creates installations for galleries and museums.
Other pieces by Ivana Müller: Lovely Performances (2002, Gasthuis Theater en Werkplaats Amsterdam), How Heavy Are My Thoughts (2003, Mousontorum Frankfurt/plateaux festival en Gasthuis Theater Amsterdam), Under My Skin (2005, LISA, Productiehuis Rotterdam, STUK Kunstencentrum Leuven en Monty Antwerpen)
