"Lay(ers) is a performance in which I allow you to see inside myself and all my vulnerabilities" Cristina Lilienfeld
"Lay(ers) is a disidentification. Cristina Lilienfled sheds successive layers of skin while searching for her genuine self. The naked body of the dancer goes through a process of abrasive purification, the skin is washed, scrubbed with sand, until the ego bleeds. In his solitude, the body self-analyses, the senses sharpen and record each pulsation, like a seismograph. Lay(ers) is a show about convulsive, torturing self-searching, which leaves behind wounds and new thoughts, about the skin filtering emotions, catalyzing them, about the limits of the being, which coincide with those of sensibility." Oana Stoica, theatre critic
The performance was created and presented in Luxembourg, as part of the Artistne(s)t residencies, in August 2013. In the same year, it won the Grand Prize of the ALT CONCURS NAȚIONAL DE COREGRAFIE competition, organised by the „Secția de Coregrafie" association. It was then presented multiple times at the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest, within the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons, while in June 2014 it was presented twice in the Beyond the Threshold Festival (Seattle International Dance Festival). In June 2016, the show was presented in for European cities, within the Dance Roads program (Bordeaux, Turin, Arnhem and Cardiff), and in February 2018 it was presented at the "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre in Craiova.
