37 MINUTES OF MAKE BELIEVE
October 22nd 2016, 07.30 p.m.
By and with Andreea Novac
"Our imagination and our dreams are forever invading our memories and since we are all apt to believe in the reality of our fantasies, we end up transforming our lies into truths. Of course, fantasy and reality are equally personal, and equally felt, so their confusion is a matter of only relative importance".
37 minutes of make believe makes use of movement and spoken word to facilitate the encounter between the performer’s imagination and that of the public. The performance is an interplay between the spoken word and interpretation, between movement and materialization, between what it is and what it might be. The result is a show which is deeply influenced by each spectator’s readiness to perceive, remember and imagine things.
This performance is part of the Fondul Colectiv de Creație project, set up by Collective A Association in Cluj in partnership with the National Centre of Dance in Bucharest and financed with the help of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund in 2016.
Andreea Novac is a choreographer and performer. She works and lives in Bucharest. She read psychology and then choreography. She performed “Dance a playful body”, “Pretend we make you happy”, “On tenderness” in Romania and abroad. She has benefited from fellowships and creative residencies in Italy, Great Britain, Holland, Luxemburg, Austria and Hungary, research fellowships on movement in Italy and, over the years, has participated in a considerable number of contemporary dance workshops. She creates choreography for film and theatre.

Fondul Colectiv de Creație is a project of Collective A Association in Cluj, which supports the research, creation and distribution of performance arts shows. The project started in March 2016 and ran for four months, during which three contemporary dance shows were produced and one performance arts research workshop took place. Fondul Colectiv de Creație is shaped as a collective fund of resources (work space, artistic know-how, cultural and financial management, but also shared values and work routines) whose aim is the creation of new contemporary dance performances and the development of new ideas and practices for performance arts.
