Developing skills for dancing and composing

"The course investigates the relationship between the moving body and its surrounding space in its multiple facets as a central element of dancing and dance making.

Developing a more refined awareness of the three-dimensional, physical body with its spatial aspects (e.g. skin, tissues, breath, skeletal architecture, etc.) and mechanics allows a richer range of movement to unfold.
A deeper sense of our spatial nature informs our dancing and choice making in each moment. At the same time our relationship with the outer space, in which we dance, resonates with greater clarity.
Listening with body and mind to the dynamic nature of space as an always-present ingredient in our dance gives access to fundamental layers of insights for reading, choice making and editing within the act of composing instantly. Being rooted in deep physicality and navigating through the actuality of the dancing body in space and time invites meaning, atmosphere, story and dramaturgy into the piece.

This course is designed for dancers, performers, actors and anyone else, interested in refining and expanding their technical and compositional skills in the context of instant composition." (Bettina Neuhaus)
