Masterclass “The Body’s Intelligence” – Vava Ştefănescu

This intensive course is intended for all amateur adults regardless of age, weight or experience. It is an invitation to rediscover the body’s resources and intelligence and to use them in the creation process. The main work challenges for the six classes are: attention, memory, RISK - the natural drives of movement, the relation between word/sound and body/movement, individual and group composition starting from given themes or from the choreographic material that will be generated during the course.

Vava Ștefănescu is a choreographer and dancer, who lives and works in Romania. She is a graduate of U.N.A.T.C. – Choreography Section and has a Master degree in International Artistic Cooperation (Paris, 2004). Vava has an important contribution to the development of contemporary dance in Romania - In 2000 she founded the Multi Art Dance Center (MAD), an independent institution dedicated to contemporary dance that prefigured NDCB, and subsequently she became the artistic director of NDCB (2006- 2013). Starting from 2013 she is the manager of the National Dance Center from Bucharest. She has an impressive artistic portfolio comprising over 30 choreographic works that have been presented in Romania and abroad. She holds choreographic or interdisciplinary composition workshops and contemporary dance workshops within numerous festivals, dance companies, universities or artistic production residencies.
