What are our RAP residents up to in Cluj?

This summer, choreographers Ruxandra Enache and Cosmin Vasile are the beneficiaries of the RAP (residencies, workshops, audience) program's sixth edition and have been working on new productions at the RAP Hall in Cluj.

Cosmin Vasile, a graduate of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, conducted a workshop in June with students from the "Octavian Stroia" Choreography and Dramatic Arts High School. His residency will also include two public presentations of his new show "Dystopia", created by Cosmin within the RAP program alongside three other performers.

" questions today's societies in connection with our world's future. It focuses especially on the versions that illustrate the negative, exaggerated stage we could reach if we continue doing what we did up to this point", Cosmin says.

Ruxandra Enache, a graduate of The National University of Theatre and Film "I.L.Caragiale" Bucharest - choreography department and a Craiova Romanian Opera collaborator, started rehearsing for the solo show "Love me Tinder – a show in a frame" (working title) on July 1. The choreographer explains that "the show raises the issue of the female body in contemporary consumerist society, presenting in a humorous way the various situations in which a woman is mirrored in herself and in others, seeking trust, validation and love in all the harrowing, funny, interminable and profoundly feminine rituals of beautification".

The shows created by Cosmin Vasile and Ruxandra Enache as part of this residency will be presented in October at both the RAP Hall in Cluj and CNDB's Stere Popescu Hall in Bucharest. The RAP program is organised by the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest in partnership with the Paintbrush Factory in Cluj and is financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN).
