The contemporary dance season CNDB Bucharest in movement, 2017
Bucharest, November 1 2017 - This week's artistic marathon is the Contemporary dance season CNDB, Bucharest in movement, 2017. The event is organised by the National Centre for Dance in Bucharest (CNDB), it started Sunday, October 29, and will take place until Sunday, November 5.
Eight days of smart dance, with shows hosted by the Stere Popescu Hall on Mărășești Boulevard 80-82, ongoing actions hosted on Cristian Popișteanu street no. 1, and two public debates with free admission, hosted by CNDB and the French Institute respectively. Consequently, the debate On L1 Association and L1danceFest, with Márta Ladjánszki will take place on November 2, between 2 PM and 4 PM, at the French Institute in Bucharest, on Dacia Boulevard 77, and DanceCloud: National mapping național. Connecting artists and media will take place on November 3, between 5 PM and 7 PM, at CNDB, Mărăseşti Boulevard 80 - 82.
"It is a unique opportunity this year, different from all the other major cultural events that precede and follow our season and an opportunity for the public to experiment together with the artists", says Vava Ștefănescu, choreographer and CNDB manager. "We brought together the newest Romanian contemporary dance creations, CNDB productions and co-productions made, in the past two years, by important artists such as Mihaela Dancs, Andreea David, Cristian Nanculescu, Andreea Novac, Farid Fairuz, Simona Deaconescu, Alexandra Pirici, Paul Dunca, Ioana Marchidan, Gabriela and Cristian Fierbinţeanu. Some of them are, probably, better known or more present outside the country than locally. For example Alexandra Pirici, invited in the Venice and Berlin biennales, at the Tate Modern in London and at Skulptur Projekte Münster. Alexandra is hard to catch and schedule, so her presence in our event made us extremely happy", adds Vava Ștefănescu.
The season's special guest is the French show Tordre by Rachid Ouramdane, which will take place on Thursday, November 2, at 8 PM, at the National Theatre in Bucharest's Studio Hall, as part of the FranceDanse Orient-Express 2017 - Romania programme, organised by the French Institute with Teatroskop's support.
